Sky Sports' resident well-known Liverpool and English female reporter Melissa Reddy reported on Friday that the club's English Sporting Director Julian Ward will resign after the end of the season and leave the club.

According to Melissa, although Julian Ward is about to leave the club, he will stick to his post until the end of the season before leaving the club.

Melissa also revealed that Ward chose to resign from his post because he thought he was a bit exhausted after working in Liverpool for 10 years, hence he wished took a long vacation to recharge before returning to work. Likewise, he had also promised that he would not work for any other club in the Premier League.

In addition, regarding Ward's resignation, Melissa also added that the Reds was surprised by this sudden decision, and many people were somewhat disappointed. In any case, Liverpool executives are extremely grateful for Ward's contributions over the years, and are sure that both parties can find a suitable replacement in the remaining time and establish a huge contribution in the coming winter transfer window market.

The 41-year-old Ward was born and raised in Liverpool on June 17, 1981. He has Irish ancestry. When he was young, he played in many lower leagues clubs in England and Northern Ireland as a player.

After retiring, Ward first served as a data analyst for the England U20 national team in 2001, and then transferred and become the Chief Data Analyst of the Portugal senior national team from 2008 to 2010.

In 2012, Ward joined the club at the invitation of Manchester City and became the head of scouting in South America. However, because the Blue Moon at that time did not promote youth team players all the year round, he accepted Liverpool's invitation to change job and joined the Reds after being disheartened with the situation.

During his 10 years at Liverpool, Ward has served as a scout, loan player coordinator, and was promoted to Assistant Sporting Director in the summer of 2020.

Working closely with Michael Edwards, he has recruited big players such as Luis Díaz, Diogo Jota, Thiago, Harvey Elliott, Darwin Núñez and many others for the Premier League giants in recent years.

It is worth mentioning that Edwards resigned for the same reason during the summer of this season, and the new candidate for Liverpool's Sporting Director is still unknown.
