Mikel Arteta says Gabriel Jesus had a knock in the thigh in the win over Chelsea

LONDON - Mikel Arteta explains the latest developments regarding Gabriel Jesus' injury, after the striker was withdrawn in the 4-0 win over Chelsea in the pre-season match at Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Florida, Sunday (24/7/2022) morning WIB. He gave a signal that he was unable to continue the match and was replaced by Eddie Nketiah.

With the Premier League set to kick off in less than two weeks, and Arsenal set to return to action next week against Sevilla in the Emirates Cup, it will be a huge blow for Arteta to not be able to play Jesus. The former City striker opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 15th minute. Martin Odegaard (36), Bukayo Saka (66'), and Albers Sambi Lokonga (90+2') then joined the list on the scoreboard.

"He had a knock in the quad in the first half and he felt uncomfortable. We decided not to take any risks today,''said Arteta, quoted from Football London , Sunday (24/7/2022).

The Brazil international joined the club after being bought for £45m from Manchester City earlier this month. Jesus impressed during the pre-season tour. He scored four goals for Arsenal.

Arteta could not hide his joy after the Gunners could make Jesus interested in anchoring at the Emirates Stadium. Because, the Spanish coach admitted that he knew Jesus well personally, because he had been together at Manchester City.
