Liverpool have centre-backs Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip.

SALZBURG -- Virgil Van Dijk speaks volumes in an interview at Liverpool's training camp in Austria. In particular he was asked to explain the relationship between fellow Reds centre-backs.

At Liverpool, coach Juergen Klopp has Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, and Joel Matip in the doorstop sector. According to Van Dijk, personally they are friends off the field. So, they are not only partners when competing.

He liked that fact. At the football level, he explained, everyone has different qualities. But they can complement each other very well.

"Whoever plays, we support each other in every competition. That's the key to his success, so we hope we can continue like that," said Van Dijk, quoted from his club's official website, Tuesday (26/7/2022).

Recently, Gomez confirmed that he would continue to be based at Anfield Stadium, in the next few years. The former Charlton Athletic signed a new contract with the Red Merseyside. Van Dijk was delighted to hear the news.

Apparently, before making a decision, Gomez spoke with him. Without hesitation, his partner decided to stay. Automatically there is no change in strength in the defense area of Everton's city rivals, so far.

"I think he is, if not England's best centre-back, he's one of the best. Obviously, we've both been very unlucky with the injuries we've had. The time will come again, and hopefully this season, he can show that, said Van Dijk.

Next, the captain of the Dutch national team alluded to Ibrahima Konate. Van Dijk quickly became familiar with the former RB Leipzig player. He liked Konate's passion.

The French defender has been in Liverpool costume since May 2021. His age has only touched the number 23. However, Konate has been entrusted with showing off his teeth in prestigious parties throughout last season.

"He's a very, very good player. What I like most about him is his desire to learn every day," said Van Dijk.

The Reds meet Manchester City in a Communinty Shield duel this weekend. The bigmatch took place at the King Power Stadium, Saturday (30/7/2022) night WIB.
